Wet Down Ceremony in Santa Fe
by Bill Chapel

This was an interesting ceremony conducted by the Santa Fe City Fire Department to celebrate the arrival of two new Fire Engines.

Two older engines were being retired and they showered the new engines with water while the City Chaplain blessed the new engines, sprinkled his Holy Water on them and the cheering crowd then pushed the new engines into their stalls inside the fire house.

We than ate grill-cooked hotdogs and burgers and cake to bring the ceremony to an end.  My side-kick for the day, Larry Allen, and I met with City, State, and Forest Service officials who along with several members of the current class of cadet fire fighters,

helped put up and than down our 25-foot Smokey.

A good day for us all.
